Well, it’s been awhile since I have written on this blog site, and there is definitely something very wrong about that. I love movies that have great special effects and are heavy with dream like technology. The movie “Avatar” is one of those movies, it’s rich in special effects, and I would love to have some of those toys they use. The walk around displays and almost 3D effects. I am sure this type of thing for the electronic starved public will someday soon be available.
If I sit down and watch this movie and separate myself from the real world, I can eat my popcorn, and become absorbed in the story and the fantasy involved. The scenery of this new world is awesome, well thought out, and somewhat believable. Although, I live in the real world, and when the movie is over, I have to somehow assimilate myself back into it. This is when I start to realize the not so subtle messages that come forth in this movie.
The movie’s director James Cameron, should be clue one, as to why these messages come forth. He is a liberal progressive mind that finds no absence in demonizing the industrialization of our world, except of course, when it comes to making a movie that nets him and his sponsors plenty of money to continue their hypocrisy filled messages in movies like “Avatar”.
Here we go, the movies starts out with an exodus of some sort, or extension of industrialization for some world. Since the movie seems to suggest that the world that they came from is dying or dead, it’s unclear as to whom is willing to pay the money to seek this precious mineral that needs to go back to a dying world. There is a lot of confusion here, because, one would think that if their world was dying, they would not be financing exploration journeys to seek a mineral to bring back to it. Okay, now I am so confused myself, I don’t have anything else to say about it.
The message is clear though, evil “white” men are seeking to rob beautiful worlds with a mixture of Indigenous people who comprise a mixture of African and Native American ethnicity, and all for a rock that will bring glorious riches to their dying or dead world. Okay if you are confused about the dying or dead world refer to previous paragraph.
Naturally these people are skilled warriors but harmonious with their beautiful land, which for some reason or the other, is not the complete nirvana it should be, since it also has much stress and strive. Must have something to do with the indigenous people who have found some means to be out of harmony with each other while still being in harmony with the natural element around them. I love the fact that a movie that seeks to be profane toward anything spiritual finds a way to be spiritual, while yet distorting spiritual elements, at least in this writer’s opinion. Note that the great spiritual being is called “mother”, well isn’t that convenient. Also the spiritual element is comprised as a whole of all the living spirits, and where do all the bad people go, does this great spiritual mother spit them out or does this evil translate into the healing powers of the great “mother” spirit. Some may say, there were no evil indigenous people, well then, where did they get their battle skills, I guess one might find it possible to say that they took the skills of hunting and when an enemy appeared translated this ability to fighting. My point here is this world that is presented as a perfect harmonious “nirvana” in the movie has some confusing elements about why there are warriors and separate tribes in different places, one would think that there probably was some disharmony there at some point, even before the entrance of evil “white” entrepreneurs from another world.
The main message which was not so subtle was the idea that any kind of industrialization done by these evil “white” people, yeah I know they had some other nationalities in the background and in some minor leads, but overall it was a message of the evil “white” man. This evil “white” man will use his power and might to destroy everything including other worlds who seem to be at perfect peace just living off of the land and loving the world which is their ultimate deity. This evil “white” man, mainly represented by the company man who is using a supposed science mission to have better intelligence in order to infiltrate the indigenous people’s world for a special mineral with great wealth to be taken back to a dead or dying world. The other evil “white” man is the military man, the colonel, with his obvious lack of thinking beyond anything but his ultimate will to kill and destroy anything that gets in his way of exhibiting his great evil prowess using military might. These evil “white” men have no thought or regard for anything or anyone that gets in their way from destroying world and people to gain access to their minerals or fossil fuels all in the evil means of gaining great wealth. Wow, what was up with the not so subtle racism, the natives were called savages and monkeys. Kind of like the making and marketing of this very movie, oops, did I just say that, sure I did.
The next greatest not so subtle message is the presence of a female who is a warrior and very intellectual woman. She is the teacher of the alien that was dumber than a rock.
Now comes the greatest not-so-subtle message of all, there’s hope for this evil “white” man. All he has to do is assimilate into the thinking and belief of the more peaceful weaker warrior nation of indigenous people of this great beautiful world with dangerous elements surrounded by beautiful spirits that seem to only be able to control the wicked nature of reality when it is convenient to save most of the important people, except, of course the great patriarch. Okay that was a lot in one paragraph made as one sentence, so sue me for not breaking it down. Did you ge the message though?
Let’s step into reality and what James Cameron fails to get across is that without some industrialization within our own world he would not have been able to profit off his propaganda by presenting it to an industrialized people. Also, this world is not dying, nor is it going to die, but it will be renewed by the “Father”. There is an evil present in this world, and it’s not just a sickness among mankind, it’s a spiritual strength that is much stronger than mankind, this spiritual strength was once in charge of presenting the glory to the “Father”. The devil or “Lucifer”, which means “beautiful one”, decided he might be god as well, and brought forth this great evil to one of the “Father’s” greatest creations, mankind. We weren’t born a people at war, no more than a child is born ready to kill with a knife in hand, children are excepting of each other, it’s not until years later they learn their bias and hatred. We have been at war since the days of Cain and Able, of which Cain was persuaded by the devil to be envious of Able. The ironic truth of what “Avatar” has presented is that this great link to the “mother” is true here in acceptance as the Devil as the spiritual force some fall in line with.
So please don’t let the messages get away from you, and now that this is said, sit back and enjoy the movie, but understand it’s “Fantasy” not “Reality”.
